Many residents are starting to see ticks in and around their homes in the past few weeks throughout the triangle, which includes Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Morrisville, Wake Forest, Holly Springs, Garner, and the entire triangle area.

Lone Star Tick:

These ticks get their common name from the single silver spot located on the females dorsal. Although not a structural pest, lone star ticks attack humans more frequently than any other tick in the eastern and southeastern states. It is medical importance because it vectors the causal organisms of tularemia, is a minor vector of Rocky Mountain spotted fever and has been associated with lymes disease
