We will solve your roach problems.

Guaranteed .

Call For Quote.

For those of you in the Raleigh Triangle area we offer both residential and commercial roach management and control services. Yes we take getting rid of roaches seriously. Most roach problems require changes in sanitation methods in addition to a quick knockdown of a roach population.

Female roaches lay many eggs in what is a called a Eggsac or Oothecae. Any one of these sacs can hatch days, weeks to even months to eventually hatch. If you are serious about getting rid of roaches we have a great Roach Control Program. We are very through and complete and are willing to help you if you help us with 100% cooperation.

Durham Roach Exterminator

It is no secret that of all pests likely to cause problems in food establishments, kitchen, homes and hotels the lowly Cockroach is often the common culprit. The best offense for any cockroach problem is a good defense denying them food, water, shelter and warmth. Cockroaches are pretty lazy and spend 3/4ths of all their time just resting and hiding and when they eat usually with a few feet from their shelter.

A successful roach treatment can take weeks and sadly even months . The success starts with the customer and changes in the entire sanitation of their home, business, or food establishment. As long as a meal is provided any one roach can live another 3-4 weeks until they take another meal and if its a female a month is long enough to drop another 4o fresh roach eggs.

We provide roaches plenty of food we call it roach bait. A specialized formula professionally prepared and as long as they eat our cockroach baits and not have access to your food supplies it works.

Cary Roach Exterminator

And if you see just one cockroach “There is no such thing as one.”

Our North Carolina roach management and roach exterminator service area includes the following Raleigh Durham Apex Cary Garner and surrounding areas.

Mice, Rats and Squirrels in North Carolina can cause problems for residents when they make their homes in structures. Mice enter structures in search of food sources, nesting areas, and shelter from the elements.

Mouse control, or rodent removal is not a one-step process, it requires knowledge and skill to eliminate populations from structures. We utilized proven methods in order to rid your structure of mice. We not only use the proper products to eliminate mice but we inspect and find their routes of entry and exclude them from gaining entry into structures. Other pest control companies only use baits or traps to remove mice but we go the extra mile and add exclusion methods to our rodent service.

Is there a mouse in the house?

You might not see the mice, but you can probably hear them after dark, as mice are often more active at night. Don’t be surprised if your pets paw at walls and cabinets where mice are hiding.

Watch for mouse droppings and nests in storage areas, such as garages and basements. Nests are usually made of materials like bits of cloth or shredded paper. Or you can check for mouse tracks by dusting suspected areas with a light coating of unscented talcum powder or mason’s chalk dust. Wait a day and then shine a flashlight across the area. If you notice small tracks in the powder, then you’ll know that mice have been there.

Although most people consider mice less objectionable than rats, mice are more common and cause significantly more damage. Mice are prolific breeders, producing 6-10 litters continuously throughout the year. The greatest economic loss from mice is not due to how much they eat, but what must be thrown out because of damage or contamination. Food, clothing, furniture, books and many other household items are contaminated by their droppings and urine, or damaged by their gnawing. House mice gnaw through electrical wiring, causing fires and failure of freezers, clothes dryers and other appliances. Mice also can transmit diseases, most notably salmonellosis (bacterial food poisoning) when food is contaminated with infected rodent feces.

Recognizing Rat and Mouse Signs

Since rats and mice are active at night and are rarely seen during the day, it is necessary to recognize signs of their activity.

Droppings and Urine – Most people first recognize rodent problems by finding droppings (Figure 2) or urine stains in and around buildings. Rodents usually have favorite toilet areas but will void almost anywhere. Old droppings are gray, dusty, and will crumble. Fresh droppings are black, shiny, and puttylike. Rodents urinate while running, and the streaks are characteristic. The urine glows under ultraviolet lights and glows blue-white when fresh.

Droppings of roof rat (1/2″, left), Norway rat (3/4″, middle) and house mouse (1/8″, right).

Gnawed Objects - Rodents gnaw every day in order to keep their teeth short and sharp. Rats also gnaw to gain entrance or to obtain food. Teeth marks on food, building materials, wire, and edges of beams are indications of gnawing. They will gnaw holes in wooden walls, pressed wood, and posts. Fresh gnawing in wood is usually light-colored with sharp, splintery edges. Old gnawing is smooth and darker.

Runways - Rats habitually use the same paths or runways between harborage and food or water. Outside runways are paths 2-3 inches wide and appear as smooth, hard-packed trails under vegetation. Indoors, runways are usually found along walls. Undisturbed cobwebs or dust indicates runways are not being used.

Rubmarks - Along runways, dark greasy rubmarks appear from contact with the rodent’s body. Rubmarks on walls appear as black smudges left by the rodent. New rubmarks are soft and will smudge. Old rubmarks are brittle and will flake when scratched. Rafters may show swing marks of roof rats.

Tracks - To detect rodent activity, spread dust material like talcum powder along runways. Footmarks of rats (5-toe hind foot, 4-toe front foot) or tail drag marks will show in the powder If you are having a problem with mice or rats in your home the best defense that you can take is to handle the problem when you first start seeing a problem, we can create a mouse/rat control program that will not only wipe out the infestation but we will perform exclusion to reduce their re-entry.

In order to properly remove bats from your home or structure, you must use someone that has the experience and knowledge of exclusion methods and behavior modification to reduce there re-entry.

In the last few years, there has been a rise in bat related calls and problems where people are finding bats in their homes. With this rise, the wildlife control industry has grown from 1-3 companies in the Triangle to over 15-20. The problem is that many of these companies do not have the proper training or experience to deal with bat related problems and are learning by trial and error.

There is nothing wrong with learning, but when it comes to removing wildlife that may pose health concerns to humans, it must be done with precise knowledge and skills. In a situation where there are hundreds of bats in a home a what if could be the difference between them getting in your home or not.

Here are a few tips that will help you decide which wildlife company to use for your bat issues.

Make sure that the company is certified through the NC Wildlife Commission.

Have the company provide you with a certificate of liability insurance before any work is performed.

Make sure that the contract that you enter with the company is clear and understandable without any gray areas.

Bat removal is a step by step process and may take several visits to rectify the problem, be weary of companies that are able to perform services for bats the same day.

In order to get the correct quote for the entire bat exclusion job a tech must look at the problem first; most companies will not give a quote over the phone. They will give you a ballpark figure but never a set price. “Be weary of one that does.

Spiders are common in the triangle and are known to be a nuisance to many homeowners in Raleigh, Apex, Cary, Holly Springs, Garner, Wake Forest, Chapel Hill and the triangle surrounding areas.

Many people find themselves walking out their doors and being blasted with a web in their face. Many spiders hang

around entry ways because that is wh

ere they can find their food source. Lights around doors attract insects and in turn attract spiders.

There are many methods that people and pest control professionals try in order to control spider related issues. Many people spray around the perimeter of their homes in hopes that this will eliminate their problem. Well it does to a point but the main problem with this method is that most spiders will not come in contact with the product used.

We approach Spider control in Raleigh, Apex, Cary, Holly Springs, Chapel Hill and the triangle area with an I.P.M. approach that not only eliminates spiders but prevents them from coming back. We use proven methods that work and would be happy to give the residents of the triangle a free pest evaluation.

We receive countless calls about spiders and the main question that we are asked is about spiders that can cause harm to humans, I felt that I would include some basis information in this article to answer many of your questions. Here are the 2 spiders that raise concern in the Triangle.

The Black Widow Spider

The Black Widow found in the Raleigh-Durham areas of North Carolina

Adult female body length ½” including an almost spherical abdomen.

Color is typically black with reddish triangular markings usually joined to form a reddish hourglass-shaped marking.

The Black widow’s venom is a neurotoxin. The female is normally shy and retiring, but aggressively attacks immediately after egg laying and when guarding her eggs. The Black widow bite is not always felt, so the only reliable evidence of a bite is a slight local swelling with 2 tiny red spots where the fangs entered. However, pain is usually almost immediate and reaches its maximum in 1-3 hours, continues for 12-48 hours, and then gradually subsides. The major symptoms are increased body temperature and blood pressure, profuse sweating and nausea. There is an antitoxin available. Immediately call physician or go to emergency room if bitten and take spider along for identification purposes. If treated, bites are rarely fatal.

The Brown Recluse Spider

The Brown Recluse

Adults usually about ¼-1/2” in body length
Color tan to dark brown with a darker fiddle-shaped marking on back.

Both male and female Brown recluse spiders can inject venom, and must be considered dangerous to humans. Injection of their venom may produce necrosis or dead tissue, resulting in ulcerating type sore. The bite is usually not felt, but it may produce an immediate stinging sensation followed by intense pain or this reaction may be delayed for 6-8 hours. A small blister usually appears and the surrounding bite area becomes swollen. Symptoms include restlessness, fever, and difficulty in sleeping. The killed tissue gradually falls off during the next 10-14 days, leaving an open ulcer and possibly exposing the underlying muscles and/or bone. Healing is very slow and usually takes several weeks, resulting in dense scar tissue. If bitten contact your physician or go to the emergency room.

Raleigh Durham Chapel Hill Apex Pest Control | Ant Exterminator

Ants A Common Raleigh Household Problem

Trapper Dan’s Wildlife & Pest Control

Ants, Ants, Ants Everywhere !!

One very common service we offer is solving ant problems for our Raleigh Triangle Area Residents. The best answer to staying on top of Raleigh’s Ant Problems is just like football and that is to have a good defense that works for you everyday.

Here in the Raleigh Garner Cary Apex area we find customers with such a wide variety of local ant names. In my research I have found 67 different ant species live amongst us here in the Raleigh Garner Cary Apex Area but professionally I have learned the following local names helpful.

The Raleigh Piss Ant

One of my favorite local names of ants would easily be the “Little Tiny Piss Ant” . What a name and I am sure it has nothing to do with urinating and that its just plain little as in a ” itty bitty” ant. Another name may be a sugar ant, ghost ant or the crazy ant. Call us and we will identify your piss ant problem and treat it correctly the first time.

In our area we have quite a few ants that fit that description and the secret is not always blasting them with pesticides but identifying them, their choice of diet and bait them and go right to stopping the queen from laying more eggs.

Many of our customers learn the hard way that sometimes spraying the wrong pesticide can actually cause ant problems to get worse. For that little Piss ant it is best to have the problem ant correctly identified, and slowly introducing a Small poison to completely kill the colony rather then alert them , with spraying splitting into many new colonies and coming back with a vengeance.

The Raleigh Fire Ant

No this one does not go out and start fires. But if you ever had stumbled into a nest of fire ants you will end up feeling like your body was on fire. Folks may have allergic reactions similar to bee stings and you will never enjoy the out doors of your property again once they have found you and you elected not to have a regular pest control program. There is only one way to control them and not have fire ants problems and that is by a regular lawn maintenance program.

The Raleigh Wood Ant

Yes even ants can destroy wood and pose a threat to structures made out of or include wood as a building material. Most wood damage caused by a wood or carpenter ant starts with moisture damage, the ants carve out soft wood and start a colony. Handling a wood destroying problem in your home may actually be caused by poor home maintenance and house design, subterranean termites, carpenter ants. Call us for a complete inspection.

Here in the heart of Cary and Holly Springs North Carolina the pollen has swept across our area and the wasp and bees are starting their spring time ritual of buzzing around Cary and Holly Springs homes and buildings. Every year we go through this same case scenario of Wasp and Bees invading our homes and buildings. There are several steps that can reduce the exposure of these flying insects using you as a pin cushion. Prevention is the key in reducing the possible exposure to stinging insects. There are countless people who have severe allergic reactions to wasp and bee stings on a yearly basis. The problem with this is that we are unable to know if our younger children are prone to these severe reactions. That is why at Trapper Dan’s Wildlife and Pest Control of Cary & Holly Springs we believe that prevention is the key to reducing wasp and bee health related issues. By having your home treated on a regularly scheduled pest service you are able to reduce the chances that a wasp or bee will have a chance to build a nest in an unsuspecting area. Here are a few tips that may help reduce your chances of getting hit by a wasp or bee.

Whenever you are mowing grass be on the lookout for areas in the yard that have any yellow jackets flying around, because there may be a nest in the ground and when you run over the nest the vibration from the mower may send them in frenzy.

Whenever you are having cook outs or outdoor events where there is food, make sure to cover dishes to reduce attracting unwanted guess.

If you see nest hanging in your eves or around the trim areas of your home, make sure to eliminate them so they will not grow in size.

If you start having a problem with wasp showing up in your living quarters there may be a wasp nest in your attic. A lot of time Paper wasp will build nest in attic and will start showing themselves throughout your home.

Another place that you may see wasp or bees is around your chimney; sometimes they will build a nest inside of the chimney cavity.

By following these tips and contacting a pest professional when you see signs you are able to reduce you chances of becoming a victim.
